EHOCW : Software CW Keyer.

Introduction

EhoCw is a morse keyer software wich runs on your PC under windows,
This software can be used efficiently by any telegraphist, confirmed or beginner who wants to use his personnal computer as a memory keyer.
In order to use it, you can use the PC keyboard, or a key (straight or double-contacts) plugged on the PC via the joystick port or a  serial-port (com).

EhoCW can convert your own text files or automaticaly generated texts (EhoCW includes a text generator), towards wav or mp3 formats, it is easy to use a USB mp3 player to learn morse code. (on the road, waiting for the train, etc...).

EhoCW makes possible using a straight key or double contacts key, either for left-handed, or right-handed persons.

EhoCW is fully operational and is given new functions in time...

Main functions :
- Speedadjustment between 12 and 40 words per minutes
- Adjustment of sound frequency
- Joystick Interface (more generaly on the sound card) for the 'paddles' or 'straight key' plug in
- Serial Port Interface  (COM) for key plug in and/or a CW transceiver remote keying
- Keying recording
- Keyboard keying
- synchronized keyng (hearing yourself keying on a chanel while hearing the auto keyer on the other chanel) good to learn straight key
- Possible setting of inter characters and inter words duration
- Character buffer
- Storing short texts as variables and re-use them by clicking corresponding buttons
- Storing predefined QSO types
- Function keys allocation
- Text generator for groups (numerics, alphabetics, punctuation) and words (with possible filtering)
- Converting texts to CW in 'Wav', 'mp3' files formats  (using blade encoder software), and 'midi' file format
- Décoding your own keying from PC sound card, display of decoded text.
- LF Spectrum display et decoding via a band pass filter (BW=50Hz, order=3).

This software is intended to be used under Windows NT4, Windows 2000, Windows XP, the DirectX 9 must be present. (Does not work under W95/98/ME sorry).

Installation :

Start EhoCW_Install.exe, the set up is standard.

The files are stored in Program Files\EhoCW\, which contains :

 - A parameters files (EhoCW.ini),
 - The Dll for “Blade encoder”software  used for the wav to mp3 conversion,
 - A file “doc” which contains the drawings of joystick and serial port interfaces,
 - The French and English dictionaries used for the words generator

During the first run, you have to enter your own datas (CallSign,QTH, locator and so on ), then record the new configuration (through menu-tools-save the configuration).
